How to schedule Facebook stories

Facebook stories

Publer now offers the ability to post Facebook stories to any of your Facebook Pages, streamlining the process of publishing pre-made content.

Facebook stories are only supported for Facebook Pages, they are posted directly, and they can be a single-photo or single-video up to 60 seconds.

You cannot find or add the elements you have on the Facebook app (i.e. links, stickers, emojis, GIFs) when you schedule your story within Publer. However, you can use the built-in photo editor to make a few last minute changes.

To schedule Facebook stories:

Go to the Create page on Publer.
Select Facebook from the left and click on Story.

Then, click on Select or Drag and Drop media and upload a photo or video.

Note: You can only post single-photos and single-videos stories up to 60 seconds long for Facebook Pages.

For Photos

After you upload a photo, you can hover over the photo and Edit it with the built-in photo editor.

Editing Facebook Stories

You can use the built-in photo editor to make some last minute changes, such as change the photo's colours, resize it, add filters, add text, emojis, or choose a specific aspect ratio.

Once you have finalized your story, schedule it accordingly.

For Videos

Similarly to photos, you can also schedule single-video stories (up to 60 seconds long) to your Facebook Pages.
Once you have uploaded your video, you can customize the story's cover by clicking on the camera icon at the bottom right of the video.

Customizing Facebook Video Story

Upload the cover that you want your Facebook video story to have. This is what will show up as the little story preview on Facebook.

Facebook Video Story Cover

Use the arrows to choose between the different covers for your story, and once the story is ready, schedule it accordingly.

Keep in mind:

You can only schedule single-photo and single-video stories for Facebook Pages, not Groups. When you select both a Page and a Group, the story will be shared as a regular post on the Facebook Group.

You cannot find/add the elements you have on the Facebook app (i.e. links, stickers, emojis, GIFs) when you schedule your story within Publer. However, you can use the built-in photo editor to make a few last minute changes.

Due to API limitations from Facebook, it is not possible to collect insights/analytics, tag accounts, or add a caption for your Facebook stories.

It is not possible to sync Facebook Stories into Publer, so you won't be able to see old story posts on Publer. However, all the stories that you share using Publer will be stored under Posts > Posted and you will always be able to access them in the future.

Tips:

You can apply a watermark to your Facebook stories, just like you would for any other photo or video post.

You can use the built-in photo editor to make last minute changes, such as add text, change the aspect ratio, crop/resize the photo, and a few more options.

You can customize the cover of a video story through Publer, and add a custom cover of your choice.

You can quickly schedule Facebook stories in bulk using the CSV file on Publer.
