How to check my page role on Facebook

Facebook Member Roles

A member can have a few roles in Facebook, such as Admin, Editor, Moderator, Advertiser, Analyst etc.

In order to take certain actions, such as manage posts for this Facebook page through Publer, reauthorizing the Page, or adding it to Publer, you need to have the specific access.

In the following guide, we will take a look at how you can check your member role and access on the Facebook page and how you can troubleshoot common issues related to missing access.

Checking member roles and access

You can check the member roles through the Meta Business Suite and directly from the Facebook page. To check what role and access you have on a Facebook page:

Through Meta Business Suite

Go to Meta Business Suite and on the bottom left-side corner, select Settings.
Then, select the specific Facebook Page and under Page Access click on Page Settings

Facebook Page Settings

Through Facebook's Homepage

Go to Facebook, select Pages from the left hand side, and go to the specific Facebook Page.
Once you're on your Facebook Page, navigate to the menu on the left side and scroll down to Settings.

Facebook Page Settings

Click on New Pages Experience.

Facebook Page Settings

There, you will be able to see all the members that have access to the Facebook Page, including yourself.

Note: Only the owner or specific users with the necessary access to the Facebook Page can manage the members, their roles, and their access.
Note: Some members who are added through the Meta Business Suite might not show up on the Page Roles page but still have access. Make sure to ask the owner to check the Meta Business Suite.

Facebook Page Roles

To see what access you have to the Page, simply click on your name.

Facebook Page Access

Note: If you have partial access to the page, it will be noted at the end of the Page Access window, with the specific details outlining what you can't do or don't have access to.

After checking your page role and the access that you have, you can understand what access you are missing. Following that, make sure to contact the owner of the page or someone who has more access than you, in order to gain the missing access (if necessary).

Resolving common issues

In certain cases, you cannot reauthorize a Facebook Page through Publer, due to missing permissions or access on the Facebook page.

For example, you need to make sure that you have the Admin role on Facebook, if you want to be able to re-authorize your Facebook account in Publer. This would explain why you might receive the error message: "You can't reauthorize this Facebook account. You're not an admin of this page."

To resolve that, you need to make sure you have the necessary access on Publer and on the Facebook Page.

Access needed on Publer

In order for you to be able to reauthorize social accounts on your own, you need to have " Member's API credentials " for that specific social account. This access can be managed under the Members tab on Publer.

Please make sure to ask the owner of the workspace to give you that access, as shown in this guide here.

Access needed on Facebook

If you are getting the error "You can't reauthorize this Facebook account. You're not an admin of this page." that is because you are not listed as an Admin on the Facebook page.

Please make sure to ask the owner of this Facebook page to assign the Admin role to you or to give you enough access, so you can manage posts to this page and reauthorize it via Publer.

Once you have the necessary access, try to reauthorize the Facebook page one more time.

Note: If you are facing constant re-authentication issues with your Facebook account, it is probably due to missing permissions which could be related to permissions found in the Facebook Business Manager tab, as explained here.. To resolve constant reauthentication issues, make sure to follow the steps here
