How to set up/enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

What is Two-Factor Authentication?

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring two different methods of authentication to verify your identity. This prevents unauthorized access to your account, even if someone knows your password. Learn more about 2FA and how it works in Publer here.

To set up Two-Factor Authentication on your account:

Choose a time-based one-time password (TOTP) authenticator app, such as:

Google Authenticator
Bitwarden
1Password
LastPass Authenticator
Microsoft Authenticator
Twilio etc.

Enable Two-Factor Authentication:

Go to Settings.
Select Access & Login.
Press the Enable Two-Factor Authentication button.

Enable Two-Factor Authentication

Scan the QR code or enter the code manually on your authenticator app.

Enable Two-Factor Authentication

Press I completed this step and then enter the code given by your authenticator app before it expires.
If you want Publer to remember this device, make sure to check the option Don't ask again on this device.

When you don't check this option, you will be asked to enter a new code every time you log in. Learn more about saved devices and how to manage them here.

Enable Two-Factor Authentication

After you enter the code, click on Verify.
Make sure to copy the backup codes provided, or click on Save as PDF, so you can store them in a safe place.

Backup codes are provided as a fallback option in case you are unable to gain access to your account. Learn more about backup codes here.

When you log in to a new device:

You will be asked to enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app, to securely log in.
You have to add the code to proceed with using the Publer app from this new device.
If you want Publer to remember this device, check the option Don't ask again on this device, and sign in.

Signing in to a new device

You can also use a backup code to sign in to this new device.
Finally, click on sign in to start using Publer.

In case you don't have access to the authenticator app, or to the backup codes, please reach out to Publer support to access your account using this device.

Keep in mind:

The Owner of a workspace can make 2FA required for all members (Admins, Editors, and Clients).
On the other hand, an Admin can make 2FA required only for Editors and Clients.
When the Owner/Admin makes 2FA required, you will have to activate it before you can log in to Publer.
When 2FA is required in one of your workspaces, you cannot disable it.
You can use any major authenticator app to activate 2FA.
