What is Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) and how does it work?
What is Two-Factor Authentication?
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring two different methods of authentication to verify your identity. This prevents unauthorized access to your account, even if someone knows your password.
To activate the Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) go here.
What happens when log in after you activate Two-Factor Authentication?
Keep in mind that you can choose to activate 2FA yourself, however, an owner of a different workspace that you are a part of can also make 2FA a requirement for all members. If they do that, then you will be asked to set up 2FA the moment you log in to Publer. To set up 2FA, please follow the steps here.
The next time you log into Publer, after you have already set up 2FA:
You will be asked to enter the 6-digit authentication code, to securely log in.
On the other hand, if you have saved this device, then you will be able to log in freely without needing to add a new code each time you log in.
If you want Publer to remember/save your device, simply choose the option Don't ask again on this device.
What are Backup Codes?
Backup codes are provided as a fallback option in case you are unable to receive a verification code. These codes can be used to gain access to your account when you encounter issues with the regular verification process.
If you have used up all your backup codes, you can generate new ones by entering the verification code from your authenticator app.
To generate new backup codes:
Go to Settings and navigate to the Access and Login tab.
On Backup Codes click on Generate new backup codes.
Enter the verification code from your authenticator app.
Click on Verify.
You will need the backup codes in case you lose your device and need to regain access to the app. If you happen to lose both the codes and the device, please reach out to Publer support to regain access to your account.
What are Saved Devices?
Saved Devices refers to a list of devices on which you have previously signed in, and for which the system no longer requires a verification code. These are devices that have been authenticated before and are considered trusted by the system.
To manage your Saved Devices:
Go to Settings and navigate to the Access and Login tab.
On Your Devices click on Manage your devices.
Keep in mind there might be multiple activity sessions from a single device.
If you want to remove a device, you can do so by clicking on Remove device.
