(Mobile App) How to activate Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

What is Two-Factor Authentication?

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring two different methods of authentication to verify your identity. This prevents unauthorized access to your account, even if someone knows your password. Learn more about 2FA and how it works here.

To set up Two-Factor Authentication on your account:

Choose a time-based one-time password (TOTP) authenticator app, such as:

Google Authenticator
Bitwarden
1Password
LastPass Authenticator
Microsoft Authenticator
Twilio etc.

Enable Two-Factor Authentication on the app:

Once you download the authenticator app, open the Publer app and navigate to Account menu and chose the Account option:

Account

At the right of Two-Factor Authentication, click on Enable.

2FA

On the next page, copy the code you see and click on Next.
You will have to switch to your authenticator app where you will use this code.

2FA activation

For example, if you are using Google Authenticator, click on the plus icon and choose Enter a setup key:
There, fill in the information required, such as the account name, the key you copied from Publer, and the type of key Counter/Time based:
After finalizing this process, you can copy the 6 digit code to add it back on Publer.

2FA setup

If you want Publer to remember this device, make sure to check the option Don't ask again on this device.

When you don't check this option, you will be asked to enter a new code every time you log in. Learn more about saved devices and how to manage them here.

On the next screen, you will see the backup/recovery codes. Make sure to copy and save them on a safe place in case of device loss.

Backup codes are provided as a fallback option in case you are unable to gain access to your account. Learn more about backup codes here.

When you log in to a new device:

You will be asked to enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app, to securely log in.
You have to add the code to proceed with using the Publer app from this new device.
If you want Publer to remember this device, check the option Don't ask again on this device, and sign in.

Signing in to a new device

You can also use a backup code to sign in to this new device.
Finally, click on sign in to start using Publer.

In case you don't have access to the authenticator app, or to the backup codes, please reach out to Publer support to access your account using this device.

Keep in mind:

The Owner of a workspace can make 2FA required for all members (Admins, Editors, and Clients).
On the other hand, an Admin can make 2FA required only for Editors and Clients.
When the Owner/Admin makes 2FA required, you will have to activate it before you can continue using Publer.
When 2FA is required in one of your workspaces, you cannot disable it.
You can use any major authentication app to activate 2FA.
