How to schedule Facebook stories (via push notifications)
Facebook Page Stories
Facebook stories have been around for quite some time, however, there still isn't a public API available, that allows third party apps (like Publer) to post stories directly.
However, we have developed a semi-automated solution that allows you to post Facebook stories with the help of push-notifications/reminders.
You will need to download the Publer Mobile app so you can share your stories to your Facebook Pages via push-notifications.
Posting Facebook Stories
1. To schedule and post Facebook stories, after you have installed the Publer Mobile app:
Go to Publer and click on the Create button at the left-side of the screen.
Select the Facebook account, and click on Story.
Select the option to Get a reminder.
Design your Story to your liking and schedule it accordingly.
This means you will have finalized the first part of the scheduling process with the semi-automated system. Once the time comes, you will receive a push-notification/reminder from the Publer mobile app, letting you know that your post is ready.
In order for this step to work, you need to make sure that you have turned on all your notifications from Publer. Learn more about that here.
2. To finalize and publish the post:
Click on the notification sent by the Publer Mobile App, or the in-app notification.
This will lead you to the post, where you can see the Story preview.
Click on Open in Facebook and you will be redirected to the Facebook app, where you will be able to finalize the story.
To start creating the Story, click on Stories > Create Story and:
Upload the media Publer has downloaded to your phone's gallery.
Add elements such as audio, effect, stickers, etc and tap on Next.
Paste the caption Publer has copied in your clipboard.
Make any last changes, and tap on Post.
Keep in mind:
Publer won't be able to gather insights, or sync posts, given the lack of an official API. However, you will always be able to find all the posts you share to your Facebook Profile under the Posts > Posted tab.
You can't use specific post options, such as adding a Location, Auto-Delete or Auto-Share, due to API limitations.
When posting using the Owner's API credentials, the owner is the one who will receive the push notification on their phone.
